Mrs. Judy Forte, First Grade Teacher
Mrs. Forte is a University of Alabama graduate with a B.S. in elementary education. She has been a teacher at TCS since 1996. She has three children, all graduates of TCS. She attends The Word Community Church in Northport where she serves on the Hospitality Team and teaches VBS each summer.“I became a teacher because I feel that God gave me a compassionate heart to help encourage students in learning. I enjoy inspiring students to love reading, and helping them to develop a ‘can-do’ attitude. I was first informed of TCS by a former TCS teacher, Angel Shirley. We were attending the same church at the time. I really enjoy teaching in a Christian environment under the leadership of a wise, conservative principal. I love teaching with the support of my Christian brothers and sisters in Christ.”
Mrs. Donna Battle, Second Grade Teacher
Mrs. Battle graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. degree in elementary education. She has been a teacher at TCS since 2000. She has been a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church for over 25 years where she serves in many areas of the children’s ministry. She is also involved in the music program.“I enjoy working with children to inspire them to learn as much as they can about Jesus and all of His creation. I don’t look at my position here at TCS as a job, but as a lifelong missionary career for the Lord. That is what life is really about. I want every student who leaves my classroom to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Some of the students may not understand now, but I want to make sure that the seed of the Gospel is planted. I am very blessed to be here.”
Mrs. Renea Hulsey, Third Grade Teacher
Mrs. Hulsey is a graduate of Jacksonville State University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She has been a teacher in Christian education for over 30 years. She currently holds an Alabama Teacher’s Certificate and an AACS Certificate for elementary education. She is a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she teaches first through third grade on Wednesday nights. “I am very proud to be the first graduate of Tuscaloosa Christian School. The 1977-78 school year was the first year seniors were enrolled at TCS. My senior year was a cornerstone in my life. The staff and faculty of TCS impressed upon me the love and care that teachers should have for their students. They showed me that teaching was more than relaying facts to children – it was also loving and caring for those whom God entrusted to your care. I knew that year that God had a call on my life to teach in a Christian school. My family moved from Tuscaloosa after I graduated, but through my college years my heart was still at TCS. God knew my desire to be a teacher at TCS. After teaching 13 years in other Christian schools, my husband was blessed with a job in this area. God worked so many miracles that year. I moved back to Tuscaloosa after being away for 21 years. It was truly amazing to see what God was doing to answer my desire to teach at TCS.  I have been a third grade teacher at TCS since 1998. I truly believe the best thing about TCS is the love for God shown by the staff and the way they express their love of God to their students.”
Mrs. Sandra Tubbs, Fourth Grade Teacher
Mrs. Tubbs graduated with an Education Degree from the University of West Alabama. She has over 15 years teaching experience. Mrs. Tubbs is involved at Old Salem Baptist Church where she is the Children’s Church Director and Children’s Choir Director. “In 2007, my oldest daughter attended K4 at TCS. As a parent, I was very impressed with the academics and biblical principles she was taught. In 2008, God opened the door for me to teach at TCS. I love teaching in the school my children attend. I can honestly say I enjoy my job!”
Mrs. Vallie Keeny, Fifth Grade Teacher

Mrs. Linda Baird, Sixth Grade Teacher
Mrs. Baird graduated from the University of Alabama with a B. S. in elementary education. She began teaching in the Tuscaloosa County system in 1973 and received her Master’s Degree from the University of Alabama in 1976. “I do not remember a time when I did not want to teach. God called me when I was a child, and I began teaching Sunday School at the age of 17. I was with the public school system until I retired in 2001. I missed teaching and interacting with students and was so thankful that God led me to TCS in 2002. Tuscaloosa Christian School is teacher heaven! The support from our administration and fellow teachers is unsurpassed. The biggest differences to me, between public and private schools, are the parents and students. The support, Christian atmosphere, and cooperation are tremendous. I am a faithful member of St. Mark Methodist Church.”
Mrs. Sandy Harris, Sixth Grade Teacher
Mrs. Harris has been in Christian education for over 30 years. She has been on staff at TCS since 2002. She has a B.A from Freewill Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tennessee, with a major in Bible and elementary education. My daughter graduated from TCS in 2014, and we are very pleased with the influence and education she received.”
