Fine Arts

The TCS fine arts program allows our students to further develop worthwhile leadership attributes. Students have the opportunity to participate in art, drama, speech, band, and choir. Our students compete in the Alabama Association of Christian School state fine arts competitions in February and March.  Senior High, first-place winners have the opportunity to compete at the American Association of Christian Schools National Competition held at Bob Jones University.

Band

We have beginner and advanced band programs.  The bands participate in various performances throughout the year.  The Beginner Band program allows younger students to learn about different instruments as well as music theory.  The students are first assisted with picking out a suitable instrument.  Many students have their own instrument, however, the school has a number of instruments available to loan.  After that, they begin to learn technique and theory.  Before long, they are making beautiful music!  The Advanced Band students spend time learning the finer points of perfecting the skill of playing their instrument.  Many students at this level begin learning to play other instruments as well.

We are very grateful to Miss Chloe Collins and Mr. Ryan Hayes for working with our bands this school year.

Choir

Junior high and senior high choirs are directed by Mrs. Julia Powell. Students learn a mixture of patriotic, sacred, and fun songs to perform throughout the year.

Speech and DramaWe are excited to be offering a new elective this year called Musical Theater.  This class is being taught by Mrs. Mary Katherine Mathews who is also directing our Spring Musical, The Music Man, Jr.  Our students have the opportunity to perform in full-scale productions on our theatrical stage located at TCS in the Student Center. Previous shows include Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Jr., Hello, Dolly!, Mary Poppins, Jr., Little Women, Peter Pan, Jr., Beauty and the Beast, Jr., The Music Man, The Sound of Music, and Fiddler on the Roof as well as a number of Broadway Review shows
